A little more about us....

Thanks for taking a moment to read...

For those of you that don't know about us, we're a new brand /trading name of MKAB Canine Services Ltd, our director is Michael K A Bennett BCCSDip.HthNut.

We wake up and take the bull by the horns each day to keep growing our knowledge base, each week a new book arrives that we can use to support us, we can't remember every study/book we read, at least not verbatim, we paraphrase a lot but fall back on reference books where appropriate.

Some people may think we're just doing this from home and in our spare time, but we're not. We actually have an office based in Eastbourne providing face to face consultations as well as online consults UK wide via phone or Zoom.  We have an onsite cafe, groomers/ small boutique pet shop (Tall Tails Pet Emporium and Grooming) and a pet sitting/dog walking business (Adventure Barks, also a trading name of MKAB Canine Services Ltd), it really is a one stop shop for dogs, we're even on the look out for day care premises with a hydrotherapy pool too (of course professionals will be vetted and hired to run that).

We mean business, we're not in this for the part time, this is our full time passion and we thrive on helping your dogs in a cost effective manor, unfortunately "Pawfect Nutrition" is a new brand but we're working hard on spreading the word.  You can get to know more about us by subscribing to our patreon, where you'll find short 5 min videos on various topics, covering as much as we could. This tier is only £3 pcm.

We're down to earth and transparent, we don't take money for consults if the answer to your dogs issues is blatantly obvious, we're currently offering consults to 20% of clients who use our free nutrition advice line, the rest we help for free because we'd simply be stealing money if we didn't!

We also have a trusted professionals we refer clients to as and when such as Alison Daniel (My Pet Nutritionist) and Junior Hudson (Heal the Dog) this is where dogs will need specific therapeutic diets formulating and need hands with more clinical experience, such as cancer, epilepsy etc. We also stay within our limitations and any money paid to us for consults by clients, will be sent to those professionals to help towards their costs because they do charge more. (£150 per consult as an example, discounts will be applied for our referral though)
This seems expensive but it IS worth it, 100%. If you breakdown their hourly time spent on your dog behind the scenes, their hourly rate would be less than minimum wage once you deduct the initial hour consult cost(for the time spent on the actual consult)
Meanwhile we only refer to these two officially, we do lean on a vast amount of other professionals for support, we don't wing anything, we ensure the guidance and assistance we give you is accurate and based on current experience and science.

Everything we do is with a holistic approach but certain cases will need an integrative mindset for the welfare of your dog, so if you're looking for 100% holistic guidance, we're not for you.

We do use other sources of guidance that don't fall within the realms of "western society" such as Ayervedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine, these approaches will 100% clash with western veterinary guidance, we also use homeopathic remedy suggestions along with other controversial therapy's such as mycology (mushroom healing) and general herbology, although we're not qualified in these sectors, we simply make suggestions for insight and can refer you to specialists in those fields if we believe they'll help.

Physical issues, there's only so much nutrition and environmental assessments can do in theory (trial and error) , so we may also refer you for specific veterinary tests/ get the vets to refer you to veterinary osteopath's etc to help us support you.

Example: Your dog is showing all the signs of an under active thyroid, this needs testing sufficiently by Towerwood Vets for example (Ask for Brendan Clarke), who'll send a blood sample to W.Jean Dodds in America for an adequate using her patented Hemolifes Thyroid Profile 5 test because UK veterinary bodies along with the rest of the world don't test this sufficiently. W.Jean Dodds wrote a book explaining this in great detail and we recommend you buy this too: The Canine Thyroid Epidemic  if you want know more.

Her test involves checking the levels of T4 Vs Free T4 , T3 Vs Free T3 and TGAA, but standard tests only check for free T4 ED, TSH and TGAA, this has proven ineffective for diagnoses, which is why she patented her method of analysis/diagnosis.

Disclaimer: We have zero affiliation with Towerwood Vets, we just know clients have used them before for thyroid issues and had the right tests carried out, we don't have an affiliation with W.Jean Dodds either, but she's the only one we know of running these tests sufficiently.

Sorry for digressing but this is just an example of how things may need to be ruled out before we can assist you, because food can only go so far, it's impossible to promote whole health if the thyroid is being left to run a much, we can encourage iodine supplementation but to what level will be a mystery and it still won't be sufficient, you can't "wing" therapeutic needs.  Underactive thyroids usually result in a life time prescription of "thyroxine" or equivalent.

This is just a brief insight to us, so reach out we can help you regardless of your issues, even if it means us sign posting you to the best professional to support you, get our nutritional advice line on speed dial: 07763 473419

We're also taking on our first apprentice this month too (Admin assistant) , so this will help stream line our consults too, so please expect pre consult calls too.

Help us help you to keep your dogs tail wagging as long as possible!

Stay Safe

Mike.
